Willkommen in Deutschland! Everybody arrived here safely! After the flight we all arrived at Frankfurt Airport and met up with Alex, our Tour Director, and our driver John. We set off on the Autobahn to drive to the medieval city of Rothenburg, Germany's ultimate walled city. There we walked along the medieval city ramparts and imagined how hard it would be for intruders to try and capture the city. Rothenburg is beautiful, with lots of half timbered houses, Gothic churches, enchanting squares and gorgeous views. And the best thing was, we practically had it all to ourselves! Obviously the combination of closed shops on Good Friday and the little bit of rain kept all the other tourists away, which made Rothenburg all the more beautiful. Nearly all of us tried the local delicacy, Schneeballen (snow balls), a tasty pastry in various flavours. Then we drove to our overnight hotel, had dinner and fell into bed. What an exciting first day in Germany. We will surely all sleep well tonight!
