What an interesting day exploring old Castilla. This region has always been such a heavy weight land in Europe, a leading kingdom in medieval Spain ruling over vast territories that went beyond the oceans with the discovery of America. We left Salamanca after breakfast and drove to Segovia but a short drive brought us to Avila. We wanted to take a picture of the city from the distance. The ancient walls of Avila encircling the city looked majestic. And once we reached Segovia we did the same, we took photos og the Alcazar and the defensive walls before our walking tour. The Alcazar was such an interesting place with a fantastic collection of armoury and weaponry. It felt like being back centuries ago. Incredible!.Had time for lunch and shopping before seeing the Roman aqueduct. This also was jaw dropping experience. Two hours to Madrid where we are finishing our tour. Checked in and went for dinner in downtown Madrid. A short walling tour showed us the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor area.
