Your tour director will show you the vibrant seaside city of Helsinki, complete with beautiful islands and vast green parks. The University of Helsinki's campus offers ample opportunities for every visitor to see, hear and experience the research that is being conducted by the students and faculty. Uspenski Cathedral is the largest Eastern Orthodox church in western Europe. The cathedral is dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (the death of the Virgin Mary). The exterior, while moderately decorated, is still striking with its deep-red brick walls and green-gold onion domes. The interior starkly contrasts the exterior, richly adorned with chandeliers and an immense gold altarpiece. Shop like a local at Old Market Hall where the merchants sell everything from cheese, fish, vegetables, fruit, cakes, spices, souvenirs and more.
Day 9 Helsinki
Details: Excursion to Ainola
Ainola stands on the scenic shores of Lake Tuusula and was the home of the famous Finnish composer Sibelius. It's distance from the hustle and bustle of the nation's capital gave the composer the pease that he needed for his creative endeavors.

Visit the Villa Kokkennen, which is dedicated to another Finnish composer, Jonas Kokkonen.
