Performing Arts: Brazil

Brazil is the name associated with endless Amazon jungle, wonderful beaches, Rio de Janeiro, Carnival, and samba. Since the 16th century, when the Portuguese first settled here, Brazil has had a mesmerizing effect on foreigners. First, it was gold, then rubber, followed by coffee, and nowadays it is the rhythms and rich culture that appeal to visitors. Brazil, a country of immense proportions and contrasts, has an enigmatic pull on many, and its people all display happiness, kindness, and spontaneity.
